In the beginning, there were Multi Camera setups. These became common in the small to medium broadcast and AV space, and typically required from two to four or more cameras, switchers, tripods and other pieces to complete the system.
PTZ systems, with precise presets, allow those who want to allow single operator control over multi camera systems via manual or automated control, most commonly Crestron and AMX, or any compatible IP system.
Now House of Worship, Higher Education, Corporate and Government clients can produce output that rivals that of a broadcast station, often with a single operator and director.
Datavideo has completely revolutionized the space with the new 4K production processor: the KMU100. Using one or two 4K cameras to take in the entire scene, the KMU processor allows the operator to define multiple High Definition (1920×1080) shots within the 4K camera field of view. The RMC185 controller will then pan, tilt and zoom each sub region as if it was an independent camera. The KMU can output up to 8 seperate high definition live shots from up to 2 4K cameras.
Each defined shot can be treated as a seperate camera feed as far the the video production switcher is concerned, and the KMU will operate with any 3rd party 4K camera, production switcher and control system.
In summary:
The result is a complete multi camera live or remote PTZ system, with 4 or 8 virtual camera signals (up to 1080p). When connected to any HD-SDI switcher, it performs the job of a multi camera production when in reality, only one or two 4K cameras are in use.
